soft independent modelling of class analogy

initialism: SIMCA
https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.10143

Supervised classification that performs a principal-component analysis on each class, and then an unknown is assigned to the class with which it has the lowest residual variance.

Notes:
  1. The number of principal-component factors chosen for each class is determined by cross validation.
  2. SIMCA is an example of the use of disjoint principal component analysis.
