k-nearest neighbour

initialism: kNN
https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.10131

Non-parametric supervised classification method for objects based on the closest training examples in the variable space.

Notes:
  1. An object is classified by a majority vote of its \(k\)-nearest neighbours, with the object being assigned to the class most common.
  2. \(k\) is a small positive integer.
  3. When \(k = 1\) the method is known as "nearest neighbour".
