photodecarbonylation

Photoinduced extrusion of carbon monoxide (CO).
Notes:
  1. Typical example is the @N04219@, in which, after production of the diradical upon photoinduced α-cleavage, CO is eliminated. This reaction has been widely exploited for the production of radicals in crystals, as well as for the synthesis of cyclic compounds.

  2. Another example is the photodecarbonylation of alpha-aryl @A00208@.
