Photoinduced extrusion of carbon monoxide ($\ce{CO}$).
Notes:
- Typical example is the Norrish Type I photoreaction, in which, after production of the diradical upon photoinduced α-cleavage, $\ce{CO}$ is eliminated. This reaction has been widely exploited for the production of radicals in crystals, as well as for the synthesis of cyclic compounds.

- Another example is the photodecarbonylation of alpha-aryl aldehydes.
