driving force

for electron transfer
https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.DT07363
Term widely used to indicate the negative of the standard Gibbs energy change for outer-sphere electron transfer (\(\Delta _{\rm{ET}}G^{\,\unicode{x26ac}}\)).
Note: For photo-induced processes, this quantity can often be estimated from independently determined properties of the donor and acceptor species involved using the equation for the calculation of the Gibbs energy of photo-induced electron transfer.
