Many reactions involving @H02889@ and particularly those run at higher temperatures lead to the deposition on the @C00876@ of high @M04000@ compounds of carbon and hydrogen which deactivate the @C00876@. This phenomenon is called coking or fouling. Catalysts so deactivated can often be regenerated.
