A class of boron compound of general formula $\ce{[(CH)_{a}(BH)_{m}H_{b}]^{c}}$ where $c$ can be positive, negative or zero. The $\ce{CH}$ groups occupy polyhedron vertices, and other hydrogen atoms are either bridging or terminal.
Note: The contraction 'carboranes' is also well established as the generic name for this class of compound.
