  1. Compounds bearing the group $\ce{N3}$, viz. $\ce{–N=N^{+}=N^{-}}$; usually attached to carbon, e.g. $\ce{PhN3}$ phenyl azide or azidobenzene.
  2. Salts of hydrazoic acid, $\ce{HN3}$, e.g. $\ce{NaN3}$ sodium azide.
