Interchange reaction involving amide groups.
Note: Transamidations commonly occur during polycondensations to form polyamides.
Examples: The reactions of an amide group with an amine group to give a new amide group plus a new amine group (aminolysis), of an amide group with a carboxylic acid group to give a new amide group plus a new carboxylic acid group (acidolysis), and of an amide group with another amide group to interchange substituents are all examples of transamidation.
