Polymers composed of macromolecules containing thioether (sulfide) linkages in the backbone: \[\ce{-S\bond{-}}\]
Notes:
  1. A polymer containing only pendent thioether groups is excluded.
  2. A polymer with sulfanediylalkan-α,ω-diyl (formerly thioalkylene), sulfanediylarenediyl (formerly thioarylene), sulfanediylmethylene, or sulfanediylphenylene constitutional repeating units is classified more narrowly as a polythioalkylene, polythioarylene, polythiomethylene, or polythiophenylene.
  3. A polymer with \(\ce{S_{x}} (x \gt 1)\) linkages is a polysulfide.
