Cellular response of the inflammatory and wound healing processes following introduction of a foreign object in a human or animal body.
Notes:
  1. The foreign object can be a medical device, a prosthesis, a particle or any compound introduced accidentally.
  2. The foreign body reaction results in more or less intense events such as fibrous tissue formation, macrophage activation, giant cells formation, etc.
