Restoration of the blood supply to an organ or tissue following a period of ischemia.
Note: Reperfusion itself may cause further injury to the tissue (ischemia-reperfusion injury), for instance due to production of reactive oxygen species or excessive \(\ce{Ca^{2+}}\) influx.
