The heterocyclic pyrimidine and purine compounds which are constituents of all
nucleic acids. Adenine (A), guanine (G) and cytosine (C) are found in both
DNA and
RNA, thymine (T) is found (primarily) in
DNA and uracil (U) only in
RNA.
