exchange extraction

An @E02301@ operation or process in which a metal from one phase is exchanged with the equivalent amount of a second metal from the other phase.
Notes:
  1. This term may be used in connection with any step (e.g. loading, @S05511@ or @S06054@ in a process).
  2. This applies also to organic or molecular species.
