Definition
Compounds consisting of two acyl groups bonded to the same oxygen atom acyl-O-acyl. Symmetric and mixed anhydrides have identical and different acyl groups, respectively. Examples,acetic anhydride  acetic benzenesulfonic anhydride  (thiobenzoic) anhydride
