Polymer composed of macromolecules containing sulfonyl linkages in the backbone: \[\ce{-SO2\bond{-}}\]
Notes:
  1. Polysulfones that also comprise ether linkages in the backbone are more exactly classified as polyethersulfones. Similarly, other subclasses of polysulfones can be derived.
  2. Polysulfonamides and polysulfonates are excluded.
