isodirectional packing

synonym: parallel packing
https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.14223
In a parallel-chain crystal, the crystalline packing of directional stems with the same chain axis orientation.
Notes:
  1. The term "isodirectional packing" is less ambiguous than the more common "parallel packing". The latter is often used in the description of crystalline polymorphs of natural polymers (e.g., cellulose I).
  2. Crystal packings in which all chains are isodirectional are very unlikely in the case of synthetic polymers except in as-polymerized systems, provided a directional extendedchain crystallization process immediately follows polymerization.
