heterogeneous binding assay

https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.14140
Assay in which one binding component is immobilized to a surface (e.g., cellular membrane, glass, gold, bead, or biopolymer layer) while its binding partner is freely diffusible.
Notes:
  1. The extent of interaction between the binding partners is determined after their physical separation, which is usually achieved by filtration, centrifugation, magnetic field, or chromatography.
  2. Used to qualitatively discriminate specific and non-specific interaction or quantitatively determine the concentration of a component part of a mixture.
