Cell-based assay in which the rate and/or direction of cell migration is measured.
Note: Typically, the response to a test sample is detected by means of a fluorescent probe or with label-free methods. Classical chemotaxis assays utilized the Boyden chamber and required manual counting of migrating cells under the microscope.
