Decay of carriers at the surface of a solid or interface between different phases, e.g., at the crystal surface.
Note: Inverse of the lifetime of free carriers in the bulk of the particle. The greater \(s\) is, the smaller is the stationary concentration of photocarriers at the surface (and vice versa). SI unit is \(\pu{s-1}\).
