photodesorption

Desorption induced by the absorption of ultraviolet, visible, or infrared radiation either by the adsorbate or by the adsorbent.
Notes:
  1. Photodesorption can be a step in the overall mechanism in heterogeneous photocatalysis.
  2. Photodesorption is the inverse process of photoadsorption. For a particular system, both processes (or reactions) are induced by ultraviolet, visible, or infrared radiation of the same wavelength region.
