Lymphocyte whose T-cell receptor (TCR) is a heterodimer of an \(\upalpha\) chain and a \(\upbeta\) chain.
Note: \(\upalpha{:}\upbeta\) T cells represent the majority of thymocytes in the thymus and T cells in the periphery.
