amorphous state

https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.12743
State of matter characterised by the absence of long-range molecular order.
Notes:
  1. Some degree of local order about \(\pu{1 nm}\) in length may exist in the amorphous state.
  2. In the absence of stress, the structure and properties of the amorphous state are generally isotropic at a large-enough scale, as in liquids.
