Freely jointed chain subject to the condition that the segments cannot intersect one another.
Notes:
  1. In the model of a self-avoiding chain, segments are considered to have a finite volume such that two or more cannot occupy the same volume simultaneously.
  2. The self-avoiding random-walk chain model is used to represent a polymer chain with excluded volume.
