Measurement of the concentration of a component of a solution with a reference measurement standard for the preparation of a secondary measurement standard
Notes:
  1. Standardization is commonly performed by titration. It may be done by other means such as gravimetric analysis, e.g., standardize \(\ce{AgNO3}\) by precipitating \(\ce{AgCl}\).
  2. Quantities that denote relative composition include mass concentration, number concentration, amount of substance concentration, molality, mass fraction, amount of substance fraction, and volume fraction.
