The period, normally lasting \(\pu{28 days}\) in the human female, during which an ovum matures, is ovulated, and enters the uterus through the Fallopian tubes. If fertilization occurs, the cycle is interrupted by pregnancy; otherwise, the cycle ends with menstruation.
