Inadequate functioning of the testes or ovaries as manifested by deficiencies in gametogenesis or in secretion of gonadal hormones.
Note: Primary hypogonadism refers to a defect that is inherent in the gonad while secondary hypogonadism refers to a defect lying outside the gonad, often an
endocrine effect.
