Benign tumor formed by a vascular malformation present at birth or developing during life, in which proliferation of blood vessels leads to a vascular tangle.

Notes:
  1. Hemangiomas can occur anywhere in the body but are most frequently noticed in the skin and subcutaneous tissues; most hemangiomas present at birth undergo spontaneous regression.
  2. Hemangioma in the brain (central nervous system cavernous hemangioma) can be accompanied with multiple neurological symptoms, ranging from headache to seizures.
