Bone morphogenetic protein member of the transforming growth factor \(\upbeta\!\) (TGF-\(\upbeta\!\)) superfamily.
Note: Amongst the multiple functions of BMP4 is a role in early embryonic differentiation, where it is secreted from the
notochord and acts with
sonic hedgehog protein to establish a
dorsal-
ventral axis.
