Ligand-activated transcription factor involved in the regulation of biological responses to planar aromatic hydrocarbons.

Notes:
  1. This receptor has been shown to regulate xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes such as various forms of cytochrome P450 family 1 members.
  2. It also appears to play a role in cell proliferation and differentiation during vertebrate development, including hematopoiesis and development of the lymphoid and immune systems.
