restricted-access sorbent

https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.10253
Porous material with a biocompatible outer surface and a retentive interior surface.
Notes:
  1. Access to the retentive interior surface is restricted for macromolecules by a physical or chemical diffusion barrier that facilitates elution of macromolecules and extraction of low-mass compounds.
  2. The restricted access barrier can be accomplished by size exclusion, differential partitioning, or other phenomenon.
