Extraction in which samples are blended with an abrasive solid sorbent, forming a free flowing powder from which target analytes are recovered by solvent elution.

Notes:
  1. A typical workflow scheme for matrix–solid-phase dispersion is shown in the figure below.
  2. For additional sample clean-up the sorbent/sample mixture is deposited at the head of a solid-phase extraction cartridge containing a suitable sorbent to retard the elution of matrix components.
