Method of analysis, in which a small aliquot of the gas phase in contact with the sample in a closed container is withdrawn for analysis.
Notes:
  1. At equilibrium, the analyte concentration in the gas phase is related to the sample concentration by a partition constant.
  2. The sample vessel is thermostatted.
