Measure of the number of double bonds in fatty acids moieties of phospholipids, calculated as the fraction of each unsaturated fatty acid multiplied by the number of double bonds within that fatty acid.
Note: UI is indicative of membrane physical properties (e.g. fluidity, curvature, or flexibility).
