Proteins with covalently linked lipids, e.g. fatty acid or glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI).
Note: The term ‘lipoprotein’ is also occasionally used to describe such compounds, but to avoid confusion this might be better reserved for the non-covalently linked lipid-protein complexes of the type found in plasma (
plasma lipoproteins).
