Technique used to separate proteins using isoelectric focusing in a gel. The proteins are then further separated in the second dimension using denaturing PAGE.
Note: 2D PAGE greatly enhances the capacity of the separation and facilitates further analysis, such as the
difference gel electrophoresis or the mass spectrometric analysis of gel separated proteins.
