Removal of
photoelectron X-ray satellite peaks from a spectrum.
Note: For unmonochromated \(\ce{Al}\) and \(\ce{Mg}\) X-rays, the satellites usually removed are \(\ce{K}\upalpha\!_{3,4}\) and \(\ce{K}\upalpha\!_{5,6}\). More sophisticated subtraction methods also remove the \(\ce{K}\upalpha\!_{2}\), \(\ce{K}\upalpha\!^{\prime}\), and \(\ce{K}\upbeta\) satellites.
