Energy value corresponding to the intensity maximum in a direct spectrum or to the intensity minimum (i.e. the negative excursion) for a differential spectrum.
Notes:
- The energy value can relate to the peak envelope for a group of overlapping peaks or to the positions of constituent peaks obtained by peak synthesis.
- For the differential spectrum in Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), the modulation, or differentiating amplitude should be given.
- Peak energies for the differential spectrum in AES have greater kinetic energy than those for the direct spectrum.
