Substance that combines the properties of an initiator, a reversible chain-transfer agent and a chain terminator or reversible deactivator.

Note 1: Some iniferters are also RAFT agents.

Note 2: A substance that combines the properties of a photoinitiator, a reversible chain-transfer agent and a chain terminator or reversible deactivator is known as a photoiniferter.

Examples: Examples of iniferters in radical polymerization are bis(carbamothioylsulfanyl)disulfides with structure \(\ce{(R2NC(=S)S)2}\) (traditional name is thiuram disulfide).
