Chain termination, in a chain polymerization, between two propagating macromolecules that gives rise to a single macromolecule of molar mass equal to the sum of the molar masses of the two macromolecules.
Notes:
- Combination is often incorrectly called 'recombination'. The term recombination should only be used to refer to the reaction, with each other, of two transient species produced from a common precursor.
- Combination is also called colligation, although this terminology is not commonly used in the context of chain polymerization.
