Emission
spectrum generated as a consequence of the decay of the excited states generated in a
laser-induced plasma that consists of a continuous background and element-specific atomic or ionic lines and molecular bands.
Note: LIBS spectra cover a wide
wavelength range. Commonly, LIBS measurements are taken between the
wavelengths of
\(\pu{200 nm}\) and
\(\pu{1000 nm}\).
